We have traveled so much of the world: from the southern-most point in New Zealand to Iceland to the eastern most border of Poland and lots in between including the US, Canada, and the UK. Never have we found a place more beautiful and peaceful than this cottage. It was especially precious to us in the days after the World Trade Center attack. The people of Cape Sable Island have been wonderfully friendly and supportive. Thank You all!

The moment I walked onto the deck of this cottage, I was faced with a quandry: How to justify cancelling 3 weeks at a dark, stuffy, crowded dorm at Halifax in order to stay here. I'm a writer and I gave myself a challenge: triple my output in 3 days,, and it's a deal. I won! It's a privilege to be in a place like this, a place where people have room in their hearts and lives to welcome strangers. I've heard it said that the primal forces of the ocean can cleanse away the small thoughts of life to let us enjoy the bigger picture. That happens here.

In our trips to Nova Scotia we have visited beautiful places in many parts of the province and have proclaimed each one the perfect place to retire- at least in our fantasies. But this place may have outdone them all. No crowds, no gratuitous noise- just the tap, tap tapping of little webbed feet on the wooden deck as the ducks race in to be fed. And the view at different times of the day provide all the entertainment one could ask for. Looking up from an absorbing book there is a heron fishing in the shallows as the tide retreats. Keep the binoculars close at hand. We shall return here!

We fled Lunenburg, and returned to Cape Sable Cottages for two more lovely peaceful days. The ducks seemed as happy to see us as we were to see them. We wish there were many more days here, but we have comforted ourselves with thoughts of coming back. SOON.

We all felt it best to escape to the coast to greet the New Year and glad we did too! The weather was an excellent and elemental reflection of the tumultuous events of this past year. The wind was blowing and the sun was warm when we arrived at Cape Sable Cottages. As soon as we met the Joneses we knew we'd made a good choice. A visit to the cottage reaffirmed our decision. As we settled in the ducks stopped to welcome us. The glorious orange sun set could be viewed from one side of the deck. Moments later the full moon appeared through the clouds. Sunday was a glorious day to tour the area. The day wouldn't be complete without a nice walk. What a glorious way to spend the last few days of our vacation!

Thanksgiving Weekend 2001 How blessed we are. How very blessed we are!! The moon has set- the sun has risen on the other side of the world. Mother Natures world, as suffering today War has broken out! But here, I sit and look out at total beauty in the early morning light. Today, Thanksgiving Monday, Cold stiff northwest wind with a beautiful mix of sun and cloud. The natural light illuminating the seaweed laced rocks - a Great Blue Heron patiently awaits its early morning food. The autumn colours of the sea grasses, yellow and golden, sounds whistling & sounds tunneling through the spruce. It is a grand morning seen from the porch (patio) of a 'grand cottage'. What a treasure it was to find such a wonderful accommodation. Clean and so well equipped. Lovely shower and so clean, Thank you for this lovely Thanksgiving Weekend! We had a great time! We'd been camping on the way here, so the hot showers, comfortable beds and electric lights were much appreciated! While here, we explored, lay on the beach(mainly in fog but we bunked anyway), canoed, caught a cod, ate in great restaurants, painted, read, relaxed and took life easy. When the sun came out, we were much impressed with beautiful scenery, wild flowers, walks, etc. We found some treasures - a lobster box and several floats - so will be bringing home some real Cape Sable Island memories. But even without those, we will remember friendly people and a wonderful vacation. Thank you.

We had lots of fun! This is a very nice cottage. We went to a couple of beaches around here. They were all beautiful and loads of fun! Except the water can be pretty cold! We found that the beds were comfy. And we had everything we needed. We like what you're doing to save the ducklings!! Feeding them was lots of fun! We enjoyed our little visits from Ginger. What a great vacation! The beaches on the island, especially The Hawk, are magnificent, and coming back to the cottage in the evening was so perfect - tranquil, peaceful, and always full of interesting bird life. We thought that the weather would put a damper on our vacation. Everyone wants sunshine... As the week went on though we realized we were experiencing things that we couldn't anywhere else. PJ showed us how to properly dig clams, Thane introduced us to the "friendly" ducks, Nancy answered all of my questions. We caught mackerel, cod, & soulpin, turd-pollock and crabs. We really enjoyed our stay at Cape Sable Island. The cottage was everything we hoped it would be. The girls had a great time exploring and canoeing.
